Inflammatory features, including symptoms, increased serum interleukin-6, and C-reactive protein, in IgG4-related vascular diseases
Heart and Vessels Jun 26, 2018
Kasashima S, et al. - Researchers explored the features of intrapelvic immunoglobulin (IgG) 4-related disease (IgG4-RD) lesions, including the presence of vascular lesions by retrospectively compared patients with IgG4-related aortic aneurysms (IgG4-AAs), IgG4-related periaortitis (IgG4-PA), and IgG4-related retroperitoneal fibrosis (IgG4-RF) with respect to clinical, serological, and pathological features, including cytokines concerning Th1/2 and Treg [interleukin (IL)-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-13, and interferon-gamma]. They found “inflammatory” features, such as increased C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum/pathological IL-6, and clinical inflammatory symptoms characterized IgG4-AA and IgG4-PA, but not IgG4-RF, These findings indicated that as IgG4-related vascular disease, IgG4-AA and IgG4-PA were identified as members of the same group. They observed that high levels of CRP and IL-6 would be hallmarks of IgG4-related vascular disease.
