Rodriguez N, et al. - In this study, researchers studied inflammatory markers in monocytes from pediatric patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and from healthy controls in order to test the hypothesis that immune dysregulation has a role in the pathophysiology of OCD, especially in the innate immune system including the microglia. The involvement of an enhanced proinflammatory innate immune response in the etiopathogenesis of early-onset OCD was strongly supported in this work.
