Stein PD, et al. - An examination was carried out of the efficacy of inferior vena cava filters in patients with acute pulmonary embolism and cancer. These filters reduced the in-hospital all-cause mortality particularly in elderly patients with pulmonary embolism and cancer. Advanced trials were warranted, particularly in younger patients.
