Inferior vena cava collapsibility detects fluid responsiveness among spontaneously breathing critically-ill patients

Corl KA, et al. - This study assessed if point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)-measured inferior vena cava collapsibility (cIVC) can identify responders to additional intravenous fluid (IVF) administration among spontaneously breathing critically-ill patients. Researchers found that POCUS-measured IVC collapsibility well distinguished fluid responders from non-responders and may serve as a guide to IVF resuscitation among this group of patients.
