Beyerlein A, et al. - The goal of the study described in this paper was to explore the connection between infections in early life and development of celiac disease. It was concluded that the repeated gastrointestinal infections amid the first year of life were related to the particularly increased risk of celiac disease (CD) in later life. These outcomes demonstrate that early gastrointestinal infections may be relevant for CD development.
