Infantile hemangiomas with minimal and arrested growth: Clinical features and treatment outcomes with 0.5% topical timolol maleate
Annals of Dermatology Oct 12, 2021
Bae KN, Shin K, Kim HS, et al. - The clinical characteristics of infantile hemangiomas showing minimal or arrested growth (IH-MAGs) and their response to treatment with topical timolol maleate are described.
Medical records and clinical images of patients with IH-MAGs were retrospectively reviewed.
A relatively low prevalence of IH-MAGs was observed.
There were 1,038 patients with IHs; only 31 of these (3.0%) were diagnosed with IH-MAGs.
More frequently, the lower half of the body is involved in lesions with non-proliferative components (61.5%) when compared with those with proliferative components (16.7%).
In patients treated with topical timolol, more significant and rapid improvement was recorded in the global assessment scale when compared with those with classic IHs.
