Indocyanine green tissue angiography affects anastomotic leakage after esophagectomy. A retrospective, case-control study
International Journal of Surgery Nov 17, 2017
Karampinis I, et al. - Researchers formulated this work to propose an association between ICG fluorescence uptake and healing of the esophageal anastomosis after esophagectomy. In the current study, ICG tissue angiography provided a feasible and reliable technical support in the evaluation of the anastomotic perfusion after esophagectomy. Findings indicated a marked decrease in anastomotic leakage rate when the anastomosis was placed in the zone of good perfusion defined by ICG fluorescence.
