Independent risk factors for pressure ulcer development in a high-risk nursing home population receiving evidence-based pressure ulcer prevention: Results from a study in 26 nursing homes in Belgium
International Wound Journal Dec 23, 2018
Anrys C, et al. - Researchers analyzed 308 candidates at high risk of pressure ulcer (PU) development for 14 days to recognize the independent risk factors for PU development in a high-risk nursing home community in a randomized controlled trial. They noted 8.4% (n = 26), and 1.9% (n = 6) as overall PU incidence in the cases who developed a deep PU with a significant association between PUs and non-blanchable erythema, a lower Braden score, and pressure area-related pain in high-risk participants even after providing the preventive care.
