Independent risk factors for postoperative AKI and the impact of the AKI on 30-day postoperative outcomes in patients with type A acute aortic dissection: An updated meta-analysis and meta-regression
Journal of Thoracic Disease Jun 07, 2018
Wang J, et al. - Researchers analyzed data from studies, obtained using multiple electronic literature databases, reporting the impacts of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) on 30-day postoperative outcomes and delineating independent risk factors for postoperative AKI in patients with type A acute aortic dissection (TAAD). They carried out a meta-analysis of seven eligible articles. They found that 30-day postoperative outcomes were adversely impacted by postoperative AKI in patients with TAAD. Furthermore, the identified independent risk factors for postoperative AKI included high body mass index, advanced age, and perioperative sepsis. In such a patient population, 30-day postoperative outcomes may be improved with effective management of postoperative AKI.
