Increased theta band EEG power in sickle cell disease patients

Case M, et al. - Researchers performed this study to assess alterations in electroencephalography (EEG) among sickle cell disease (SCD) patients. Findings suggested the utility of EEG in quantitatively evaluating differences between controls and SCD patients. Results revealed the potential of EEG to distinguish between different levels of pain in an unbiased setting, where specific frequency bands could be used as biomarkers for chronic pain.
