Increased serum uric acid level predicts poor prognosis in mildly severe chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. An analysis from the MECKI score research group
European Journal of Internal Medicine Dec 05, 2019
Piepoli MF, Salvioni E, Corrà U, et al. - In an analysis of the Metabolic Exercise Cardiac Kidney Index (MECKI), experts assessed the prognostic influence of serum uric acid (SUA) on long-term clinical outcomes in heart failure (HF). The relation between SUA and all-cause/cardiovascular deaths were examined in 4,577 individuals, with decreased ejection fraction HF, peakVO2 1,151 ± 440 ml/min, and NYHA class I-II, III-IV. SUA was found to be related to enhanced mortality, but only in less severe HF. Nevertheless, SUA did not explicate further prognostic power to the MECKI score.
