Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Aug 04, 2019
Goyal A, O’Leary D, Goyal K, et al. - Among 6,742 patients with mycosis fungoides (MF) In the United States cancer registries of SEER-18, researchers evaluated the risk of being diagnosed with a second primary hematologic or solid malignancy. Using standardized incidence ratios, relative risks were estimated. MF patients were at higher danger of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, melanoma, lung, female breast, prostate, colon, and renal cancer. There was a higher risk among females vs males. According to this retrospective analysis, an increased risk of a diagnosis of second primary malignancies was found in MF patients and they should be assessed for apparent signs and symptoms of second malignancies.
