Increased NK cell function after cessation of long-term nucleos(t)ide analogue treatment in chronic hepatitis B associates with liver damage and HBsAg loss
The Journal of Infectious Diseases Feb 28, 2018
Zimmer CL, et al. - Researchers performed a single-center prospective trial comprising 15 HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB)-patients on long-term nucleos(t)ide analogues (NA) treatment. These patients underwent structured NA cessation and were studied longitudinally. They observed that increased NK cell function associates with active hepatitis and HBsAg seroclearance following structured NA cessation. Findings thereby enhanced the knowledge regarding the immunological events that developed following cessation of NA treatment in CHB.
