Increased inflammatory potential of diet is associated with increased odds of prostate cancer in Argentinian men
Cancer Causes and Control Jul 23, 2018
Shivappa N, et al. - In a population-based case-control study, researchers studied the link between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) and prostate cancer (PrCA) in Córdoba, Argentina, with 153 incident cases of PrCA and 309 controls frequency matched on sex, age (± 5 years), and place of residence. Findings revealed a positive correlation of a pro-inflammatory diet (indicated by higher DII scores) with PrCA occurrence. Overall, combined findings from this study and other studies call for steps to promote a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods in order to attenuate risk of PrCA and other chronic diseases.
