Increased incidence of Warthin tumours of the parotid gland: A 42-year evaluation
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Sep 07, 2018
Franzen AM, et al. - In a population in rural Germany, authors evaluated the frequency of Warthin tumours among parotid neoplasms over the past 42 years and identified the potential risk factors. In the period from 1997 to 2017, a Warthin tumour was the most common histological tumour type. A high incidence of multiple tumours, a growing incidence in women and a decreasing age of patients were also found. A re-evaluation of the existing view of the epidemiology of benign parotid tumours was proposed by the experts, which proposes the pleomorphic adenoma to be the most common benign parotid tumour.
