Increased glycine-amidated hyocholic acid correlates to improved early weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy
Surgical Endoscopy Aug 10, 2017
Kindel TL, et al. – In this prospective study, researchers aimed to assess the comprehensive changes in meal–stimulated bile acids (BAs) after sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and determine whether a specific change in the BA profile correlates to the early weight loss response. As per findings, SG induced an early and persistent post–prandial surge in multiple bile acid subtypes. Increased G–hyocholic consistently associated with greater early body mass index loss. This research provided evidence for a role of BAs in the surgical weight loss response after SG.
