Income is associated with the probability to receive early coronary angiography after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Resuscitation Aug 28, 2020
Lagedal R, Jonsson M, Elfwén L, et al. - Given the association of low socioeconomic status with worse outcome after cardiac arrest, researchers here examined if the probability to receive early coronary angiography in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients differ by patients´ income. Researchers conducted a nationwide retrospective observational study including 3,906 OHCA patients who were admitted alive and registered in the Swedish Registry for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Observations revealed association of income level with the probability to undergo early coronary angiography in OHCA patients. Higher chance of receiving early coronary angiography was observed with increasing income after adjusting for educational level, gender, age, comorbidity and hospital type. The initial ECG rhythm seemed mediating this association.
