Lu MC, et al. - Herein, patients with and without ankylosing spondylitis (AS) were compared, in order to assess the risk for the requirement of spine surgery, including cervical and lumbar spine surgeries. Findings demonstrated a significantly higher risk for the need of any spine surgery, cervical spine surgery, and lumbar spine surgery among patients with AS, particularly those in their 20s and 30s, as compared with those without AS.
