Antoon JW, et al. - Researchers sought to investigate the overall burden of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis in children in the United States. Findings suggested that compared to the adults, the incidence of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis in children was higher. Children from 11-15 years of age demonstrated the highest incidence. They noted significant age-based variations in incidence and outcomes across the pediatric population. In children with toxic epidermal necrolysis and in children aged 0-5 years, hospital mortality was highest.
