Incidence of serious fetal and neonatal events in pregnant women with heart disease
Canadian Journal of Cardiology Feb 03, 2021
Pfaller B, Siu SC, Nair GKK, et al. - In this retrospective analysis of a prospectively-gathered cohort, researchers sought to determine the incidence of serious fetal and neonatal events in women with heart disease. Participants in the study were 833 pregnant women with heart disease seen at a Canadian tertiary referral centre. According to findings, the offspring of women with heart disease are at risk for serious complications during pregnancy, including death. Women must be advised of these dangers as part of preconception counselling. In order to prepare maternity treatment accordingly, doctors must work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
