Incidence of recurrent NASH-related allograft cirrhosis
Digestive Diseases and Sciences Dec 20, 2018
Kakar S, et al. - Authors analyzed 226 cases undergoing liver transplantation (LT) for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) from 2000 to 2015 to determine the incidence of recurrent NASH-related allograft cirrhosis. They noted 36% subjects developed recurrence of biopsy-proven NASH, 15 cases with bridging fibrosis and only 4 candidates progressed to recurrent NASH cirrhosis at a mean of 9 years post-LT. They also observed less common and less severe recurrence of disease in those transplanted with black donors and hence found beneficial in counseling patients during their post-LT care.
