Incidence of norovirus-associated diarrhea and vomiting disease among children and adults in a community cohort in the Peruvian Amazon basin

Romero C, et al. – Researchers carried out this work to assess the incidence of norovirus–associated diarrhea and vomiting disease among children and adults in a community cohort in the Peruvian Amazon basin. Observations revealed norovirus as a significant cause of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in this community, especially among children <2 years of age. A 20% improvement for detection of norovirus cases was observed with inclusion of vomiting in the case definition.
