Kraft F, et al. - The incidence and duration of hyperoxia burden and associated in-hospital mortality were investigated in critically ill patients. Findings reported a substantial hyperoxia burden in intensive care unit patients. Data also demonstrated that hyperoxic episodes were more often exhibited by young patients with less comorbidities, especially with lower FiO₂. Researchers observed that hyperoxia during 7 days of mechanical ventilation did not correlate to increased in-hospital mortality.
