Incidence of fever and positive bacterial cultures in neonates receiving prostaglandin
Pediatric Cardiology Oct 07, 2017
Alghanem F, et al. - This trial was pursued in order to figure out the incidence of fever and culture-positive infection in patients receiving Prostaglandin E (PGE1). It also aimed at spotting out the diagnostic variables that speculated the culture-positive infection. It was witnessed that fever was a common occurrence in neonates receiving PGE1 and it served as a very non-specific marker and not a predictor of positive cultures. Nevertheless, the common practice of complete sepsis workup warranted re-analysis in febrile patients at low risk of bacterial illness.
