Incidence of Clostridium difficile infection and associated risk factors among hospitalized children in Qatar

Khalil A, et al. - In this retrospective study carried out among 200 pediatric patients admitted to the pediatric ward at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) in Qatar, experts ascertained the incidence of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) and risk factors related to it. Among the 200 people, 23 were diagnosed with CDI. Important risk factors for CDI in hospitalized children were the incidence of antibiotic exposure, prolonged hospitalization, and enteral feeding, highlighting the significance of antimicrobial stewardship programs in the prevention of hospital-associated infection.
