Incidence of cirrhosis in young birth cohorts in Canada from 1997 to 2016: A retrospective population-based study
The Lancet: Gastroenterology & Hepatology Feb 06, 2019
Flemming JA, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective population-based cohort study to characterize the epidemiology of cirrhosis via an age-period-cohort approach to define birth-cohort effects on the incidence of cirrhosis in Ontario, Canada. Using a validated case definition, they identified 165,979 eligible adults with cirrhosis between January 1, 1997, and December 31, 2016. Overall, they found that, over the past two decades, the incidence of cirrhosis has increased in younger birth cohorts and in women.
