Incidence of acute cardiovascular event after acute exacerbation of COPD
Journal of General Internal Medicine Jun 13, 2018
Goto T, et al. - Using population-based datasets from three US states from 2005 through 2011, the researchers determined the relationship of acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) with 30-day and 1-year incidences of an acute cardiovascular event. Study participants were patients aged ≥ 40 years with AECOPD. They compared the incidence of each patient’s acute cardiovascular event during the first 30-day period before the index AECOPD (30-day reference period) with that during the 30-day period after the index AECOPD. The data indicated that AECOPD was correlated with increased 30-day and 1-year incidences of an acute cardiovascular event.
