Incidence, management and outcome of raised intraocular pressure in childhood-onset uveitis at a tertiary referral centre
British Journal of Ophthalmology Jul 23, 2018
Tan SZ, et al. - Researchers gauged the incidence, management and outcome of uveitis and raised intraocular pressure (IOP) in children treated at the Manchester Uveitis Clinic (MUC). A good outcome overall through aggressive medical and surgical management was seen in this cohort of children with raised IOP. Authors recommend a regular long-term follow-up. In eyes with uncontrolled IOP, early surgical intervention can prevent loss of vision. The definition of blindness by the WHO criteria was fulfilled by the 4 eyes (5.3%) from four patients. At final follow-up, the mean cup:disc ratio was 0.4.
