International Wound Journal Aug 28, 2020
Zhao K, Zhang J, Li J, et al. - Researchers examined the incidence of surgical site infection (SSI) after intertrochanteric fracture surgery as well as the associated risk factors. Among 1,941 assessed patients who underwent intertrochanteric fracture surgery, 25 (1.3%) developed SSI, including 22(1.1%) superficial infection and 3(0.2%) deep infection. Following were identified as independent risk factors for the rate of SSI: gender, time to surgery > 4 days, the implant (intramedullary or extramedullary devices), and ALB < 35 g/L.
