Incidence and risk factors of coagulation profile derangement after liver surgery: Implications for the use of epidural analgesia—a retrospective cohort study
Anesthesia & Analgesia Mar 23, 2018
Jacquenod P, et al. - Herein, the researchers sought to determine the incidence of coagulopathy after hepatectomy, interfering with epidural catheter removal. They also searched for the risk factors related to coagulopathy. A frequent incidence of coagulopathy (53.5% [95% confidence interval, 50.0–57.1]) was reported following liver resection. In patients without preexisting hepatic cirrhosis, showing a normal preoperative international normalized ratio and platelet count, it seemed safe to use epidural analgesia during minor hepatic resection.
