Journal of Critical Care Dec 17, 2018
Battle CE, et al. - In this multicenter, mixed methods, observational study conducted across the intensive care units (ICU) of 10 hospitals in Wales, researchers investigated the incidence, nature, and risk factors for patient-reported alopecia among survivors of critical illness. A pre-designed survey was completed at three months post-ICU discharge by 123 patients, of whom 44 (36%) patients reported alopecia. Sepsis was identified to be a risk factor for alopecia in these patients—a distressing condition experienced among ICU patients.
