Incidence and predictors of target lesion failure in patients undergoing contemporary DES implantation – Individual patient data pooled analysis from 6 randomized controlled trials
American Heart Journal Apr 18, 2019
Konigstein M, et al. - Researchers pooled patient-level data from 6 prospective, randomized trials, to assess the incidence of target lesion failure (TLF) in patients undergoing contemporary drug-eluting stents (DES) implantation, as well as the factors that could predict TLF in these patients. They analyzed DES treatment outcomes at up to 5 years. This study included 10,072 patients. Between 30 days to 1 year, but not at 1 to 5 years, moderate/severe calcification and stent length were identified as predictors. Findings revealed that across the early, late, and very late post-procedural periods, there was a variation in the predictors of TLF. The only lesion related predictor of long term TLF was RVD; diabetes, prior coronary artery bypass grafting, and prior percutaneous coronary intervention were identified as clinical predictors.
