Incidence and potential predictors of thromboembolic events in epithelial ovarian carcinoma patients during perioperative period
European Journal of Surgical Oncology Jan 24, 2020
Zhou Q, Zhu C, Shen Z, et al. – Researchers investigated the incidence and risk factors of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) during the perioperative period. They retrospectively analyzed patients with EOC, and performed a comprehensive review of medical documentation. VTE incidence of 11.16% was reported among 233 patients with EOC. Findings suggested undertaking more effective thromboprophylaxis and pretest assessment for EOC patients. Before the operation, D-dimer levels (> 4.215 μg/ml) were the independent predictors for VTE events. Independent predictors post-operation were age and debulking surgery.
