Incidence and outcomes of unstable angina compared with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction
Heart Apr 29, 2019
Puelacher C, et al. - In two independent prospective multicentre diagnostic studies (Advantageous Predictors of Acute Coronary Syndromes Evaluation [APACE] and High-Sensitivity Troponin in the Evaluation of Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome [High-STEACS]), unstable angina (UA) was compared to non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) with respect to the relative incidence, characteristics as well as outcome. In APACE and in High-STEACS, UA was adjudicated in 8.9% and 2.8% patients and NSTEMI in 15.1% and 13.4%, respectively. Findings revealed a substantially lower relative incidence and mortality of UA as compared with that of NSTEMI, while a similar rate of future non-fatal MI was reported.
