In-hospital mortality after hip arthroplasty in China: Analysis of a large national database
The Bone & Joint Journal Oct 10, 2019
Zeng C, Lane NE, Englund M, et al. - A total of 210,450 individuals who underwent primary hip arthroplasty registered in the Hospital Quality Monitoring System in China between 2013 and 2016 were recruited in order to define trends in in-hospital mortality following this procedure in China and to investigate the potential risk factors. In-hospital mortality following hip arthroplasty and its association with potential risk factors were evaluated using multivariable Poisson regression. In China, while in-hospital mortality following hip arthroplasty seemed low and decreased during the study period, discrepancies in mortality following this procedure existed according to sociodemographic factors. Moreover, to additionally decrease mortality, healthcare resources should be allotted more to underdeveloped regions.
