In-hospital bleeding outcomes of myocardial infarction in the era of warfarin and direct oral anticoagulants for atrial fibrillation in the United States: A report from the national cardiovascular data registry Acute Coronary Treatment and Intervention Outcomes Network Registry
Journal of the American Heart Association Apr 12, 2019
Feldman DN, et al. - In myocardial infarction patients with atrial fibrillation or flutter, researchers assessed patient features, peri-infarction invasive and pharmacologic management, and in-hospital major bleeding based on home anticoagulant use. From the ACTION (Acute Coronary Treatment and Intervention Outcomes Network) Registry, ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction and non-STEMI patients with atrial fibrillation or flutter treated at 761 US hospitals from January 2015 to December 2016 were identified and stratified by no anticoagulant, warfarin, and direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). Findings revealed no relationship between home warfarin or DOAC therapy and an increased risk of in-hospital bleeding vs no anticoagulant in routine clinical practice.
