In heart failure patients with CSA, stimulation of the phrenic nerve improves sleep and quality of life

Journal of Cardiac Failure Aug 25, 2017

Goldberg LR, et al. – Efficacy and safety of the remede System in the HF subgroup of the Pivotal Trial was assessed. Findings demonstrated that in HF patients with central sleep apnea (CSA), a marked improvement in CSA was evident subsequent to treatment with transvenous phrenic nerve stimulation, which offered sustained clinical improvement and proof of reverse remodeling in patients with reduced LVEF. In addition, the remede System displayed an acceptable safety profile and researchers noted a trend toward fewer HF hospitalizations.
