Improving engagement with healthcare in hepatitis C: A randomised controlled trial of a peer support intervention
BMC Medicine Apr 04, 2019
Stagg HR, et al. - In this investigation, researchers evaluated peer support intervention effectiveness in promoting successful clinical engagement with chronic hepatitis C services. Three hundred and sixty-four people agreed to take part. One hundred one suffered from chronic hepatitis C and were randomised, 63 receiving the intervention (peer support). According to this randomised controlled trial, peer support can improve engagement with health care services for patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV). Before implementing them in different healthcare settings, the cost-effectiveness of such interventions in the relevant populations should be assessed. There have been no reported serious adverse events.
