World Neurosurgery Aug 26, 2017
Cheng J, et al. – This prospective cohort study was designed to determine the major factors affecting the quality of life (QOL) and further to investigate the impact of microvascular decompression (MVD) on QOL in patients with hemifacial spasm (HFS). Researchers noticed that HFS affected QOL both physically and mentally. Higher risk of worse QOL was observed among patients with severe HFS symptoms or a higher educational level. MVD provided high spasm–relief rate in addition to significant higher QOL after surgery.
