Improvement of pain and function after use of a topical pain relieving patch: Results of the RELIEF study

Journal of Pain Research Jul 05, 2020

Gudin JA, et al. - This Institutional Review Board-approved study was performed among patients suffering from mild to moderate arthritic, neurological, or musculoskeletal pain, to assess a topical analgesic pain-relieving patch in decreasing pain severity and improving function in these populations. Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) scores were assessed among participants. Patches for 14 days were received by 152 people in the treatment group. No patch was received by 47 participants in the control group (CG). Following day 14, 34 CG patients crossed over to treatment with the patch. Findings revealed the ability of this topical analgesic pain-relieving patch in decreasing BPI pain severity and interference scores among adult patients suffering from mild to moderate arthritic, neurological, and musculoskeletal pain. In view of the findings, experts recommended considering this topical analgesic pain-relieving patch as a treatment choice.
