Improved visualisation of early cerebral infarctions after endovascular stroke therapy using dual-energy computed tomography oedema maps
European Radiology May 15, 2018
Grams AE, et al. - Researchers ascertained if dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) reconstructions optimised for oedema visualisation (oedema map; EM) facilitate an improved detection of early infarctions after endovascular stroke therapy (EST). This study was carried out in 46 patients (21 women; 25 men; mean age: 63 years; range 24–89 years). On the basis of the available data, the authors concluded that the EM series allows higher contrast and better early infarction detection as compared to the virtual non-contrast (VNC) or brain window (BW) series after EST.
