Improved survival with adjuvant brachytherapy in stage IA endometrial cancer of unfavorable histology
Gynecologic Oncology Sep 01, 2018
Shinde A, et al. - In stage IA endometrial cancer of clear cell (CC), papillary serous (PS), and carcinosarcoma (CS) histology, authors assessed the use of vaginal brachytherapy (BT) and the resulting effect on survival. They identified the patients with uterine cancer diagnosed from 2004 to 2015 from the National Cancer Database. Findings suggested an association of the use of BT with improved survival in this cohort of women with stage IA endometrial cancer of unfavorable histology. BT was received by 29.5% of patients in this cohort. After propensity score adjustment, the benefit of BT persisted.
