Improved detection of circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms

Franses JW, et al. – In this study, researchers elucidated the improved detection of circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis for MUC genes confirmed the likely origin of these circulating epithelial cells (CECs) from pancreatic lesions. Results increased the sensitivity of detection of these cells. Hence, could have clinical implications for cancer risk stratification.
