Improved coronary artery contrast enhancement using noise-optimized virtual monoenergetic imaging from dual-source dual-energy computed tomography
European Journal of Radiology Sep 20, 2019
Arendt CT, Czwikla R, Lenga L, et al. - Researchers described optimal kilo electron volt (keV) settings for virtual monoenergetic imaging (VMI) reconstruction at dual-energy coronary CT angiography (DE-CCTA). Fifty-one DE-CCTA data sets were reconstructed. M For objective image analysis median values were highest in VMI + series at 40 keV, significantly better than the best VMI series at 70 keV and standard F_0.6 images. Overall subjective metrics attained higher scores at 40-keV VMI+ series compared with 70-keV VMI series and F_0.6 images, with optimal vascular contrast, good image sharpness, low noise, and optimal plaque delineation. Thus, DE-CCTA image reconstruction with 40-keV VMI + supports for the meaningful betterment of both objective and subjective image quality.
