Impedance cardiography as tool for continuous hemodynamic monitoring during cesarean section: Randomized, prospective double blind study
BMC Anesthesiology Apr 01, 2018
D’Ambrosio A, et al. - Impedance Cardiography (ICG) is a non-invasive tool for continuous hemodynamic monitoring. In healthy patients undergoing elective cesarean section, researchers evaluated the utility of ICG to assess the hemodynamic impact of 6 mg (GL6) vs 8 mg (GL8) levobupivacaine combined with fentanyl. They also compared the duration and quality of analgesia and anesthesia. ICG was recognized to be a useful noninvasive tool that allows continuous monitoring of hemodynamics during cesarean section. In particular, low levobupivacaine dose may benefit obstetric patients by offering hemodynamic stability, the satisfying sensory block and rapid mobilization.
