Impaired sleep quality in COPD is associated with exacerbations
Chest Jun 28, 2019
Shorofsky M, et al. - Researchers examined the relationship between subjective sleep quality and risk of COPD exacerbations among 480 COPD participants from the Canadian Cohort Obstructive Lung Disease (CanCOLD) study. The study sample consisted of 185 patients with ≥ 1 exacerbations during the 18 months follow-up period and 203 with poor baseline sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [PSQI]) score > 5). Overall, the investigators found an increased risk of COPD exacerbation in correlation to higher baseline PSQI scores.
