Impact of triglyceride-glucose index on long-term cardiovascular outcomes in patients with myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Aug 06, 2021
Gao S, Ma W, Huang S, et al. - In this investigation involving 1,179 myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) patients, a high triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index was independently linked to a poor prognosis after MINOCA. The TyG index should be assessed on a regular basis in MINOCA patients to help with risk stratification and decision-making.
During the median follow-up of 41.7 months, patients in the higher tertiles of the TyG index had a significantly higher incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE).
After multivariate adjustment, an increased TyG index was found to be significantly associated with an increased risk of MACE.
With rising tertiles of the TyG index, the adjusted risk of MACE increased as well.
The TyG index remained a strong risk factor in both the overall and subgroups of MINOCA patients.
Furthermore, the TyG index had a moderate predictive value for MACE.
