Impact of treatment with pioglitazone on stroke outcomes: A real-world database analysis
Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Jun 13, 2018
Morgan CL, et al. - The relationship between pioglitazone and reduced incidence of stroke in type 2 diabetic (T2DM) and insulin-resistant populations within a real-world database was investigated. Between 2000 and 2012, data on T2DM patients who started pioglitazone were taken from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink, a UK routine data source. No significant difference in 30-day mortality rate or rate of recurrent stroke was found. In patients with type 2 diabetes, pioglitazone had a potent effect in decreasing stroke events.
