Impact of the duration of global cardiac ischaemia on outcomes of acute type A aortic dissection repair
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Feb 17, 2021
Beliaev AM, et al. - Researchers undertook this retrospective observational study to investigate if operative mortality can be predicted by duration of cardiac ischaemia during acute type A aortic dissection (ATAD) repair. They also inquired about the optimum cardiac ischaemia time that is related to better results. A total of 363 eligible ATAD patients were analyzed. According to the findings, there was an association between duration of cardiac ischaemia in ATAD and operative mortality. The identified optimal cut-off point was equal to or above 149.5 minutes. Lower in-hospital mortality and better long-term survival were reported in relation to operations associated with shorter cardiac ischaemia.
