Toyonaga Y, et al. – This study assessed systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and Surgical Apgar Score (SAS), in combination, as predictors of poor outcomes following emergency surgery. Findings demonstrated an independent association of pre–operative SIRS and SAS with post–operative AKI. When used simultaneously, pre–operative SIRS and SAS may provide an improved prediction of poor post–operative outcomes.
